  • Hinckley, Allen & Snyder Fosters Diversity Through Participation in Boston Bar Association's Summer Jobs Program

  • Boston, MA - For the fourth consecutive year, Hinckley, Allen & Snyder LLP participated in the Boston Bar Association's Summer Jobs Program, a longstanding collaboration of the Boston Bar Association, the City of Boston, the Boston School Department and the Boston Private Industry Council.  The Program affords Boston's inner city high school students the chance to work in a professional environment and observe the workings of the legal profession firsthand.  All of the students in the Program attend weekly seminars organized by the BBA and taught by volunteer lawyers and judges.  In addition to receiving financial literacy training, the students take part in interactive civics lessons. Students chosen for the Program are pre-screened by teachers or guidance counselors and submit written applications with an essay and recommendations.

The Firm recognizes the importance of supporting diversity in the legal community and encouraging racially and ethnically diverse students that a profession in law is a realistic and positive goal.

"When you hire students through the BBA Summer Jobs Program, you are giving them a unique opportunity, one not readily available to urban youth," said Paula Andrews, Co-Chair of the Program and a Partner at the Firm.  "You are also sending a message that the legal profession cares about being inclusive."

This summer, 28 Boston high school students participated in the program bringing to over 250 the number of kids who have gone through the program since it began in 1993.
